Heath Study

Heath is a young girl learning the beginnings of magic. And her studies often take place in life or death situations. I've wanted to make a statue of her for a very long time, and at last years San Diego Comic-con I finally tried my hand at making one.

Or rather, a bust of her.

Time ran out before I finished the head (hair takes forever), and so she remains simply a torso. I'll get around to finishing it rather soon I think, now that I'm sculpting again.

There's no armature inside her, since there's really nothing to support. The cape design is based on the various appearances of her older self (in dreams and such) throughout the series.

The picture to the right is from the cover to issue 23, and from the first moment I saw it I knew I wanted to make it a statue. But unfortunately, I'm not that good yet.

It's one of those things I'd hate to do and have it be anything other than perfect. And so I practice...

That was supposed to be Varkias there in the cape, but the wings just didn't come out right.
