The Gorgon Study

The Gorgon is an interesting creature to me, he's a walking talking magical sculpture with the ability to turn other people into statues. His origins and abilities are still vague and mysterious, and his allies are much the same. He's only shown up a few times, but when he has, most everyone runs for the hills.

I did this piece last year at the San Diego Comic-con, along with the Heath bust. Neither one is finished, nor probably ever will they be, as they were done more as a demo and time-passer. I had great fun doing them though and they both keep screaming to be redone properly.

Of course, this is essentially just a pile of rocks, but I still think it came out well for what it is. The spine in particular I was really happy with.

Incidentally, I went through all sorts of pains to transport a toaster oven from Chicago to San Diego for use in baking small pieces. And in the end I only used it once, to bake this piece, and nearly burned down the hotel room in doing so.

Shouldn't have baked him on a block of wood. :)
